THREE LESSONS LEARNT ON CAR ACCIDENT

I didn’t imagine that I would witness a car accident collision involving me and family members. It happened up close as I was in front of the car and the collision was on the passenger side (my side). My eyes were open and I saw vividly what had happened.

After our church anniversary, we looked for a place to buy dinner as we don’t have time to cook food at home. I suggested buying a “Mandi” (a traditional dish from Yemen of meat, rice and spices) and off we go to a place where it is being sold; that place happened to be a busy street.

With clear road, we were about to cross over an intersection, when suddenly a fast car is coming from the other side of the intersection. Because it was driving fast, he didn’t have time to brake and hit our car. I can still see clearly in my mind what had occurred. But I praise God because He protected all of us (even the driver of the other car).  We are all safe, with minor pains in some parts of our body. There were no other cars involved because the intersection was clear (which is somehow strange, it is always a busy street). The car that hit us was small and old so the impact was not that much strong. It could have been worst… but Thank God really!!!

Things happen for a reason, and God is teaching each one us something on every situation we are in. Some of the lessons I learned.

1.      Life Is Precious Than Any Other Material Possessions. I must admit that after the collision and saw the damage on our car; I thought about how much would be the cost of the damage. Considering that we had a third party insurance, it will incur expenses on the repair on top of the fine (if the report shows that we are at fault). But I realized that life is far more important than any other material things as they are replaceable, while the life that we have cannot be taken back once lost. After that revelation, it became easy for me to accept the things that occurred and instead thank God that we didn’t have any serious injury.

2.     Always Ask God for Protection & Guidance. When I was a first time driver and new on the road, I would always pray to God to protect me and people on the road (I don’t want to have an accident as it might cost money & life). But as I became accustomed to driving, I admit that sometimes I forget to pray to God. I am beginning to be confident on myself, which is wrong. I should always ask God for protection and guidance as we don’t know what will happen on the road. Lessons learned, always pray to God and apply the blood of Jesus.

3.      Stay Calm & Humble. Sometimes I think that I am the priority on the road (since I am a lady) because sometimes I don’t give way to pedestrians and other drivers (especially when I am in a hurry). I always thought that people will always give their way but if not, I become angry and upset. Although I follow road rules and regulations but sometimes I don’t know how to control my temper particularly when other drivers cut my way without any notice. I should stay calm and humble and let not the pride control the steering wheel.

I continuously thank God for His love and mercy that protects us always, anywhere we are. I pray that you would drive safe and before you go, always call on to God.

God bless us more J
